About Kate McMahon

I’m a freelance journalist and foreign correspondent focused on the Middle East and South Asia. Based in Egypt, I report on environmental change, technology, human rights, and geopolitics. Holding a Master’s of Science in Conservation Biology, I explore how the climate crisis intersects with issues of power, justice, and inequality.

I’ve reported from remote villages in Nepal on earthquake relief efforts, from the frontlines of settler violence in the Occupied West Bank, and from a high-level international summit in Colombia, where countries and world leaders convened to discuss international law.

My work has been published in Al Jazeera, Business Insider, Conde Nast Traveller, The New Arab, The Verge, Scientific American, Travel & Leisure, and WIRED Middle East, among others.
