About Kate McMahon
I’m a freelance journalist and foreign correspondent focused on the Middle East and North Africa. Based in Egypt, I report on climate change, human rights, and geopolitics. Holding a Master’s of Science in Conservation Biology, I explore how the climate crisis intersects with issues of power, justice, and inequality.
I’ve reported around the world: from remote villages in Nepal rebuilding after the 2015 earthquake, to the frontlines of settler violence in the Occupied West Bank, to the refugee camps in the Balkans.
My work has been published in Al Jazeera, Business Insider, Conde Nast Traveller, Middle East Eye, Scientific American, The New Arab, The Verge, and WIRED, among others.
